Why Barakah?
Traditional behaviour systems often focus on compliance, rewards and improvement pathways. Barakah takes a different approach. It asks not only "What did the student do?" but "Who is the student becoming?" The platform helps teachers recognise positive choices, coach reflection, restore relationships and build a consistent culture rooted in Islamic values.
Character is not built through isolated incidents. It is cultivated through repeated cycles of values, action, reflection and restoration.

Every student is assigned a unique Barakah Symbol that represents strengths, aspirations and values. These symbols help students see behaviour as part of their identity, reflection and growth journey.

Secondary UAE Heritage Symbols
Secondary students use a mature set of Barakah UAE Heritage Symbols inspired by physical objects from UAE culture, Islamic identity and Emirati heritage. These symbols help students aged 11-16 connect character growth with purpose, responsibility, belonging and legacy.
Primary Barakah Symbols remain warm and imaginative. Secondary UAE Heritage Symbols are designed to feel more dignified, personal and age-appropriate while celebrating the culture, history and values of the UAE.

Barakah Houses
Every student belongs to a Barakah House. While each student has their own personal Barakah Symbol, their House connects them to a wider community built around the core values of ISCS Nad Al Sheba.
Barakah Houses encourage teamwork, belonging, healthy competition and collective responsibility. Students earn Barakah Points for themselves, and those points also contribute to their House total.
We are honest, trustworthy and guided by strong moral character.
We show mercy, kindness and empathy in our words and actions.
We work with others, support our community and succeed together.
We speak truth, take initiative and do what is right even when it is difficult.
We respect differences, listen with humility and build peaceful relationships.
House identity is shared. Barakah Symbol identity is personal. Both work together to help students live the Barakah Way.
Houses are assigned by the school through the System Administrator workspace. They can be imported as part of the student CSV file or assigned manually by authorised staff. House allocation is separate from the Barakah Symbol reveal.

Behaviour Library
Rather than rewarding vague ideas such as "good behaviour", Barakah recognises specific, observable actions that teachers can see in every lesson.
Every Barakah Point is awarded against a carefully designed Behaviour Library consisting of 114 positive observable actions.
Because every behaviour is tagged to one of the Seven Barakah Commitments, the platform can build a rich picture of each student's character journey over time.

This creates greater consistency, fairness and reliability across every classroom while helping students understand exactly which behaviours contribute to becoming people of excellent character.

Improvement Points
Barakah recognises positive choices through Barakah Points, but it also supports accountability when behaviour falls short. Improvement Points are used when a student's actions require reflection, repair and improvement. They are not used to label students, but to identify the behaviour that needs to change and guide the next coaching conversation.
Gentle reminders where a student needs support before behaviour becomes more serious.
One-off behaviours that interrupt learning or demonstrate poor choices.
Repeated or more deliberate behaviours that affect learning, relationships or safety.
Serious behaviours requiring pastoral or leadership intervention.
Pastoral Support Pathway
Improvement Points help identify behaviours that require reflection, repair and growth. When patterns continue, Barakah guides staff through a graduated Pastoral Support Pathway so students receive the right support at the right time.
This pathway helps teachers, tutors and leaders respond early, work together and support students before concerns become more serious.
A student needs a reminder, reflection conversation or small improvement target.
Repeated Improvement Points or repeated reminders within a short period.
Patterns continue or teacher requests pastoral support.
Pastoral Support Plan does not show sufficient improvement.
Serious or persistent concerns requiring senior leadership oversight.
Students can move up or down the pathway depending on need. The aim is always to return to the Growth Pathway.
When a student needs additional support, Barakah does not begin with what is wrong. It begins with what is strong. Staff identify the student's strengths, Barakah Symbols, trusted relationships and positive behaviours before setting improvement targets.
Leaders can use the Pastoral Support Pathway to identify emerging patterns, track support plans, review intervention impact and ensure students receive timely support before concerns become more serious.
